Check-in Streamlined With Faster Printers

by admin on January 25, 2012 · 0 comments

I wanted to update you on a recent improvement to our child security check-in system. We’ve replaced the laser printers with dual thermal label printers.

This means that there will be no more half-page check-in or check-out sheets. Check-in/out sheets will be printed on label-sized papers… and will now be referred to as “vouchers”. As in “do you have your check-out voucher”.

The only truly slow part of the system has been waiting for those half-sheets to print. So they’re gone!
You’ll note the new voucher image up above. All the same information, just 1/8 the size!
If you have any questions at all, email me pastorjk@gmail.com or call 757-522-2171 and ask for Pastor James.

Post image for Middle School Royal Rangers Moving To Sunday 9:30am Slot

An important change is coming in August for all Middle School Royal Ranger classes. They’ll be moving their traditional time slot Wednesday evenings to the 9:30am Sunday School hour. Commander Scott and I have decided this is the best way to help our Middle School boys not have to choose between Youth Group involvement and Royal Rangers. High School boys will also be able to participate if approved by Commander Taylor.

The group will meet in Room 218 every Sunday at 9:30am. This change only affects boys in 6th, 7th or 8th grade who have attended our Wednesday Royal Ranger program.

Please see Commander Scott for more information as he will be instrumental in leading the new class.

What is Shift?

by admin on July 27, 2011 · 0 comments

Post image for What is Shift?

Shift is a brand new ministry for Middle School Students (6th thru 8th grade) on Sunday morning, 10:30 am, at Suncoast Cathedral. Shift, while under the umbrella of the Suncoast Kidmin Department, is being established with the full support of the One Student Ministries Department and The Gathering Young Adult Ministry.

Shift Middle School Ministry will be a series of unique services providing spiritual, mental and social training that will guide middle school students and their families as they make the shift from childhood into youth ministry.

The vision for this program is that Shift will be a diverse and welcoming place for students to grow spiritually, gain Godly identity, a Christian worldview and a faithful social network that will support them in the pivotal years between Elementary and High School.

Shift’s Goals:

  • To act as a bridge between Children’s Ministry and Youth Ministry.
  • To create a current that naturally leads Middle School students toward spiritual, mental and social maturity.
  • To support and promote the Youth Department programs, services, events, staff and pastors.
  • To take elements from children’s church and youth ministry and blend them to create a unique and relevant church service experience.
  • To train middlers to seek a living relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

Shift will provide three Middle School services in Room 202 each month (2nd, 3rd and 4th Sundays). Every first Sunday middlers will join their families in the main sanctuary for worship.

Shift will begin Sunday, August 7th at 10:30 am in room 202. Parents and middlers can follow us on Facebook for the latest information on this exciting new program. We welcome your prayers and support as we strive to meet the ever changing needs of our children, pre-teens and youth.

Water Park… Looks Like Rain

by admin on July 27, 2011 · 0 comments

Hopefully it will quit raining. If it doesn’t… looks like we’ll be doing another movie night. I have a phone call into the inflatable place. Stay tuned on Facebook for up to date info.

** Update **

Unless we have thunder and/or lightening we’re not going to let a little rain keep us from having our water slides tonight!

BGMC Bike-a-thon, August 4th

by admin on July 12, 2011 · 0 comments

Post image for BGMC Bike-a-thon, August 4th

Suncoast Kidmin’s BGMC Bike-A-Thon is here! This is the summer project that allows your kids raise money for missions by just riding their bycicle… and we’re ready to get rolling! Bike-a-thon packages were givign out in Kid City on Sunday, July 10th. Please see Jewel Kessie in Kid City if you’re child missed out. These packets allow folks to sponsor your child with a one-time gift or a per-lap donation. Your child decides how many laps they want to go around… and the money just rolls in! Don’t have a bike or can’t ride? Kids can raise money for missions using anything with wheels: scooters, skateboards, trikes, roller skates, wagons or wheel barrows… as long as it’s “kid powered”!

The actual Bike-a-thon is happening August 6, 2011 at 4pm at Suncoast Cathedral. We will have a track set up where everyone can hop on their bikes and start riding! We hope to see you there! Thank you, and remember to support BGMC with your finances and especially your prayers!
